A 35-year-old bull rider died Saturday, Oct. 24, after being kicked or stepped on by a bull during a rodeo at Fox Hollow Stables in Clearcreek Township, according to police.

Clearcreek Township police and EMS responded around 7:41 p.m. to the stables at 1909 E. State Route 73 for a report of a rider injured during the venue's Saturday night rodeo, as first reported by Fox 19.

Police identified the rider as Jason Blake Saylor. He suffered a traumatic chest injury despite wearing chest protection, officers said. The injuries to his chest were severe.

Medics treated Saylor at the scene before transporting him to Atrium Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:40 p.m., according to a WDTN report.

Clearcreek Township Fire District received the call at about 7:42 p.m., Fire Capt. Levi Sargent told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Clearcreek Township police are investigating Saylor's death as an accident.

Fox Hollow Rodeo released a statement on Facebook on Oct. 25 calling Saylor "one of our bull riders and brothers in Christ." The rodeo said it was asking the public to respect the family's privacy during what it called "this incredibly difficult time."

The rodeo holds events every Saturday night at 6 p.m. throughout the year, according to the Enquirer, citing the rodeo's website. Fox Hollow offers semi-pro and amateur bull riding, barrel racing in the summer, and calf and sheep riding for kids.

Investigators are asking anyone with cellphone video, recordings or information about the incident to call police dispatch at 513-695-2525 or contact Detective Sgt. Kevin Barton at 937-748-1267 during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
