A Warren County senior services levy that would cost Deerfield Township homeowners about $22 a year per $100,000 of home value gets a public airing Tuesday, Oct. 20, when township trustees meet at 5:30 p.m. at 4900 Parkway Dr., Suite 150.

The presentation comes weeks before Warren County voters decide the measure on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Listed as Issue 07 on the ballot, the proposal would renew a tax of up to 1.21 mills for five years to fund senior citizen services, according to the Warren County Post. The county auditor estimates the levy would collect $9,016,446 annually. Because it is a renewal, the levy would continue an existing tax rather than create a new one. If approved, the levy would take effect in 2026, with the first collection in 2027.

Trustees will also present a Fire Life-Saving Award, though the meeting agenda does not name the recipient.

Under new business, the board is set to vote on two resolutions. The first involves zoning code text amendments referred from the Planning and Zoning Department. The agenda does not detail what sections of the code would change. The second is an intergovernmental agreement with the Warren County Transportation Improvement District (TID), listed under public works. The agreement's terms are not described in the posted agenda.

Fiscal office items include a resolution to accept tax rates, purchase orders, payments by resolution and supplemental appropriations.

A consent agenda bundles routine items: approval of the Sept. 15 regular session minutes, a liquor permit for Roosters, cemetery deeds, a fire department staff vehicle surplus resolution, a memorial tree donation in parks, vehicle equipment and an Axon contract for the Warren County Sheriff's Office, and personnel actions including a resignation, two probation releases and a merit increase.

Residents who want to speak during the public comment period must state their name and address. Each speaker gets five minutes, though the board can extend that time by majority vote.
