Laura Nixon, chief financial officer at Mason's Lindner Center of Hope, won the CFO category at the Cincinnati Business Courier's 12th annual C-Suite Awards on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Nixon, a certified public accountant, was one of 31 finalists selected across the program's executive categories. She was not the only Lindner Center leader recognized. Jan Marhefka, the center's chief nursing officer, was named a finalist in the CNO category at the same ceremony.
The Lindner Center of Hope said Nixon has made significant contributions to the center's growth and its ability to advance its mission in a fiscally responsible way. The nonprofit mental health center at 4075 Old Western Row Road has served more than 50,000 patients since it opened in 2008 and employs between 201 and 500 people.
The Cincinnati Business Courier said honorees are chosen through an independent editorial review. Selections are based on merit, achievements and contributions to their organizations and community, according to the publication. Commercial interests with the Courier are not considered, and the publication's editorial leadership has final approval.
Six judges from regional institutions evaluated the nominees: Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Mount St. Joseph University, the University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Weldon Phillips International and Western & Southern Financial Group.
The Business Courier published a full winner profile of Nixon alongside the other honorees on Oct. 15.
