Whole Foods Market will close its Mason location and move to a new 40,000-square-foot store in West Chester, WLWT first reported on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The Mason store, located at Deerfield Towne Center, has been open since 2007. The new location at 8310 Liberty Way in the Four Bridges area of West Chester will open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, with regular hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
The move ends a nearly two-decade run for the grocery chain in Mason.
Whole Foods Market has not announced what will happen to the Deerfield Towne Center space after the store closes. No closing date for the Mason location has been made public. The Deerfield Towne Center store directory still listed Whole Foods Market as a tenant as of Oct. 20.
Mason shoppers who relied on the Deerfield Towne Center location will need to travel to West Chester to reach the new store. The chain has not said whether Mason employees will transfer to the new site.
On opening day, the West Chester store plans to offer coffee from Deeper Roots, a Cincinnati-based roaster with shops in Oakley, Over-the-Rhine and downtown Cincinnati and a roasting facility in the city's West End. Local suppliers will also provide samples.
Whole Foods Market said it will make a food donation to La Soupe to mark the opening. La Soupe is a Cincinnati nonprofit based in Walnut Hills that rescues surplus food and turns it into meals for families facing food insecurity. According to its website, the organization has diverted more than 8 million pounds of food from landfills and shared 6.8 million servings with families in need through hundreds of community partners.
The West Chester store is the chain's latest investment in the northern Cincinnati suburbs, though Mason will lose a grocery option that has anchored Deerfield Towne Center for nearly 20 years. Residents can visit the new store at 8310 Liberty Way starting Nov. 18.
