A water main broke on Farmfield and Fox Run in Deerfield Township on Wednesday, Sept. 9, marking at least the sixth failure Warren County Water has posted since June.
Warren County Water & Sewer Department, which serves more than 28,000 water customers across the region, said on X that crews were on site and no boil-water advisory was needed.
The department has issued nearly identical notices all summer. It posted a break affecting 7856–7969 Saddleback on June 9, another hitting 2445–2560 Western Row and 2752–2817 Socialville-Foster on June 24, and a third on Erin Court and 9367 White Pine on July 1. Two more came on July 4 alone: one on Bowline and another affecting Stratford Court, Georgetown and portions of Carriageway.
All six breaks hit Deerfield Township. None triggered a boil-water advisory.
The department has not posted any public explanation for why the breaks keep happening or whether it plans an infrastructure review. No statement from Warren County commissioners addressing the pattern has appeared in public records.
The failures carry real costs. Warren County commissioners approved reimbursement of up to $16,287 for damage to a home at 2520 Rose Road in Deerfield Township caused by a water main break in September 2025, according to a Sept. 6 Hoodline report. That break went undetected for about an hour before water flowed downhill and flooded portions of the first floor and basement, according to the Warren County Post.
Commissioners were also considering a formal policy for how the county handles property damage claims tied to water and sewer failures. Under the current process, the department can reimburse up to $2,500 in documented costs without further review. Anything above that requires individual consideration and a separate board vote.
No date has been set for a vote on the proposed reimbursement policy.
