Homes along Carriagegate Lane and Sablegate Lane in Deerfield Township lost water service Monday, Sept. 14, after another water main break.
Warren County Water said on X that the break affected addresses at 2510 through 2565 Carriagegate Lane and 7978 Sablegate Lane. The department said crews were on site, no boil water advisory was needed and drivers should use caution in the area.
The break is at least the seventh to strike Deerfield Township since late May.
Warren County Water has posted main break alerts for the township on Saddleback on June 9, Rosemont and Rosebrook on June 23, Erin Court and White Pine on July 1, Bowline on July 4, and Farmfield and Fox Run on Sept. 9. A break on Halyard and North Harbor was reported May 24.
None of those incidents required a boil water advisory. Warren County Water has not publicly addressed the cause of the recurring failures or announced any infrastructure review.
The pattern has already cost one Deerfield Township homeowner significant damage. Warren County commissioners on Sept. 1 approved a resolution reimbursing Susan McDaniel up to $16,287 for property damage from a water main break at 2520 Rose Road, according to county records. That break occurred Sept. 26, 2025. The county's insurance carrier, CORSA, denied the claim after determining the county was not negligent.
At the same meeting, Warren County Water and Sewer Director Chris Brausch proposed updating the department's customer reimbursement policy. Brausch told commissioners "the customer reimbursement policy has not been updated in several years and, due to an increase in weather-related incidents, should be re-evaluated," the Warren County Post reported. The proposed changes would expand reimbursement language to cover damage from water main breaks, not just sewer incidents.
Under the current process, the department can reimburse homeowners up to $2,500 without board approval. Larger claims require a separate vote by commissioners.
Commissioners did not adopt the broader policy at the Sept. 1 meeting, saying they wanted more time to review it. County records show the board directed the Water and Sewer Department to review the policy with legal counsel and return with recommendations. No follow-up date has been announced.
