One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Eaton Road on Tuesday at approximately 7:34 p.m. The crash occurred in Milford Township, Butler County, just across the county line from the Mason area on a corridor many local drivers use daily.

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones said in a press release on Wednesday that deputies and fire personnel responded to the intersection and found one driver unresponsive. That driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin and confirmation by the Butler County Coroner's Office.

How the crash unfolded

The sheriff's preliminary investigation indicates a silver Toyota failed to yield at the intersection, striking a black SUV that was traveling southbound on U.S. 127. After the initial collision, the SUV crossed into the northbound lanes, where it was struck by a silver Ford F-250 truck pulling a trailer.

The driver and a passenger in the F-250 sustained minor injuries and were transported to UC West Chester Hospital. The driver of the silver Toyota was evaluated at the scene; no injuries were reported for that driver.

Investigation ongoing

The Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, known as S.T.A.R.T., responded to the scene and is leading the investigation. No charges had been filed as of the sheriff's Wednesday, July 29, announcement.

The intersection of U.S. 127 and Eaton Road sits near the Butler-Warren county line and carries traffic between Hamilton and the Mason area. No road closures were announced in the sheriff's release.
