Commuters who use I-75 through Cincinnati have until Nov. 3 to weigh in on two new designs for the Galbraith Road interchange.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is gathering feedback on the I-75 Unification Project, which will move northbound lanes next to the southbound lanes from the State Route 126 interchange to just south of the Shepherd Lane interchange. The project adds one new travel lane in each direction and includes safety and access improvements at SR 126 and surrounding local roads, according to ODOT's project page.

The project sits in Hamilton County, but the corridor carries Warren County traffic toward downtown Cincinnati, making it a key route for Mason and Deerfield Township commuters.

New alternatives born from earlier feedback

ODOT held a virtual open house in 2025 and received several hundred comments ranging from full support to general opposition. The project team presented four alternatives for the Galbraith Road interchange and two for Wayne Avenue.

The Wayne Avenue decision is settled. ODOT selected Alternative 2, a new single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Millsdale Street and Wayne Avenue.

Galbraith Road is not. Based on 2025 feedback, the project team developed two new options, Alternative 3A and Alternative 3B, and is now asking the public to weigh in on those designs only. The earlier Galbraith Road alternatives are no longer open for comment.

How to comment

Comments must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 3 to be included in the final I-75 Interstate Unification Study report. Residents can submit feedback online at publicinput.com/75unification or contact Erin Smith, environmental engineer at ODOT District 8, by phone at (513) 933-6746 or mail at 505 South State Route 741, Lebanon, OH 45036.

Project scope and timeline

The broader effort, listed by ODOT as the "I-75 Thru the Valley: Unification Phase," carries an estimated construction cost of $126.2 million across multiple project components. Construction began in summer 2021, with completion estimated for fall 2031. The work includes adding through lanes, bridge preservation, roadway rehabilitation and bridge expansion.

ODOT District 8 posted the feedback request on X on Monday, Sept. 21, directing residents to the project website. The Nov. 3 deadline gives commenters about six weeks to review the two Galbraith Road alternatives and respond.
