The Kings Local School District Board of Education reviewed the district's 2027 budget at a work session Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Kings Mills.
Treasurer Mike Morrow presented the 2027 Permanent Appropriations and Amended Certificate of Estimated Resources to all five board members at the Kings Education Center. The district's assistant superintendent for human resources and business presented updated enrollment numbers and revised 2027-28 school calendars. Superintendent Greg Sears briefed the board on the facilities and master plan.
Board members John Skerl, Janelle Groff, Stacie Belfrom, Deb Cowan and Peggy Phillips were all present. The board spent 48 minutes in executive session to discuss employment and compensation of a public employee. No action was taken afterward.
Because work sessions are discussion-only, the budget items are expected to come before the board for a formal vote at the next regular meeting. Board member Deb Cowan will serve as the Ohio School Boards Association delegate for the group's annual Capital Conference business meeting, with Groff as alternate.
