Kings running back Oliver Young rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns Friday, Oct. 9. The Knights held off Milford 31-28 in an Eastern Cincinnati Conference game.

The win moved Kings to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the ECC. Milford dropped to 1-7 and 1-6 in conference play.

Kings trailed 14-7 after the first quarter. Young had opened the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run, but Milford quarterback Aiden Wehrum threw two first-quarter touchdown passes to build the Eagles' early lead. Jaden Hornbeck, a Kings running back, pulled the Knights even at 14-14 with an 8-yard scoring run in the second quarter.

The third quarter belonged to Young. His 8-yard touchdown run tied the game at 21-21 after Milford had retaken the lead. Then his 1-yard plunge gave Kings a 28-21 advantage the Knights held the rest of the way.

Walkington-Gray kicked a 23-yard field goal with 3:58 remaining, pushing the lead to 31-21. Milford answered with a late touchdown pass from Wehrum to cut the deficit to three, but time ran out on the Eagles.

Wehrum finished 21-of-32 for 294 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions, spreading the ball to a pair of 100-yard receivers, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Enquirer's weekly recap named Young among the top individual performers in Greater Cincinnati for the week, noting his pair of third-quarter scores that swung the game.

Kings' season has been uneven. The Knights opened 3-1 after a 45-14 win over West Clermont in Week 4 but have gone 1-3 since. The Milford victory snapped a rough stretch. OHSAA football playoffs begin Oct. 30, and Kings sits at 4-4 with two regular-season games left.

The Knights face their stiffest remaining test Friday, Oct. 16, when they travel to Anderson's Charles L. Brown Stadium. Anderson enters Week 9 at 7-1 overall and 7-0 in the ECC after beating Walnut Hills 78-19 in Week 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
