Mason's boys soccer team claimed a share of the Greater Miami Conference title Tuesday, Oct. 13, shutting out Sycamore 1-0 in a winner-take-all regular-season finale on the road.
Stamp scored the game's only goal off a corner kick in the first half, and the Comets' defense held Sycamore scoreless the rest of the way, according to Mason Sports Radio on X.
Both teams entered the match 8-0 in conference play. The result gives Mason and Sycamore a share of the GMC crown as co-champions.
The title extends one of the most dominant runs in conference history. Mason's 2025 championship was the program's seventh in eight years and 12th overall since joining the GMC in 2007, according to the MHS Chronicle.
Head coach Garrett Szabo's squad navigated a season shaped by roster turnover tied to MLS Next, which pulled several players away from high school soccer. Szabo said in October 2025, after last year's title, that the departures forced a shift in style.
"The changes have made us a more well-rounded team, and it shows on the scoresheet," Szabo told the MHS Chronicle at the time. "We're playing together, and it's paying off."
That team-first approach carried into 2026.
Mason went unbeaten through nine GMC matches, including a 3-0 win over Lakota West on Sept. 22 and the title-clinching shutout of Sycamore. The Comets' overall record stood at 8-5-1 as of Oct. 8, when the Cincinnati Enquirer ranked them 10th in Greater Cincinnati.
Senior Dani Salloum scored the lone goal in a 1-0 league win over Hamilton earlier in October, earning a spot on the Enquirer's athlete-of-the-week ballot.
Tuesday's match at Sycamore closed out Mason's regular season. The Comets now turn to the OHSAA Division I postseason, with sectional tournament play scheduled for Oct. 19 through Oct. 24, according to the OHSAA. District rounds follow Oct. 26 through Oct. 31.
