Kings Island launches its Halloween Haunt season Friday, Sept. 25, bringing seven haunted mazes, four scare zones and four shows to the Mason theme park on select nights through Oct. 31.
Two mazes are brand new. JASON: Blood Reign drops visitors into the dark woods of the Friday the 13th franchise, developed in partnership with Horror, Inc., which owns the franchise and launched the Jason Universe. Kings Island is one of three Six Flags parks nationwide to get the attraction, joining Carowinds in North Carolina and Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Metal Massacre, the other debut maze, is set inside a ghoulish concert venue where undead heavy metal rockers make the audience the main event.
The Conjuring: Beyond Fear returns for a second season as a premium add-on. The immersive experience casts visitors as paranormal investigators encountering entities from New Line Cinema's Conjuring Universe. It requires a separate ticket starting at $20 online and a reservation. It is not included with park admission or the Haunted Attractions Pass.
The remaining mazes are Alien Abyss, Order of the Dragon, Slaughter House and Killmart, according to WLWT. Four scare zones round out the lineup: Abandoned, Coney Maul, Hooked and Pumpkin Eater.
What families need to know
All guests 15 and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old. The chaperone must show a valid government-issued photo ID with date of birth at the gate. Kings Island says Halloween Haunt is not recommended for children under 13.
On Thursdays and Fridays, re-entry is not permitted. On weekends, re-entry ends at 6 p.m. Face coverings that conceal identity are not allowed, according to the Kings Island website.
Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy are closed Thursdays and Fridays during Haunt and close at 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A family-friendly daytime event called Tricks and Treats runs Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 27 through Nov. 1 and is included with a daily park ticket. It features a costume contest, a Trick-or-Treat Trail and a Mask Makers Mash activity.
Ticket pricing varies by date and package. Visitors can check the full schedule and current prices on the Kings Island website.
