Hoxworth Blood Center is collecting whole blood donations at the Mason Community Center on Friday, Sept. 11. The drive falls on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The mobile blood bus is at 6050 Mason Montgomery Rd. and accepting donors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointment slots were still open as of Thursday, Sept. 10. Residents can book through the Hoxworth scheduling page or call (513) 451-0910.
Ellie Biederman is listed as the drive's coordinator. The City of Mason's recreation department promoted the drive on X on Thursday, encouraging residents to donate locally.
Hoxworth, a division of the University of Cincinnati, is the sole blood center serving the Greater Cincinnati area. It supplies more than 30 hospitals across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and says it needs 450 donors every day, according to its website. A single whole blood donation can save up to three lives.
Hoxworth is offering a 25th anniversary "We Remember" T-shirt to donors who give blood on Sept. 11 at Neighborhood Donor Centers and select mobile drives, while supplies last. Whether the Mason drive qualifies has not been confirmed. To schedule, call (513) 451-0910.
