The Mason Comets girls soccer team takes on the Lakota East Thunderhawks at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Mason Multi-Purpose Field.

The Greater Miami Conference matchup comes as the OHSAA postseason looms. Southwest District seeding votes open Sunday, Oct. 4, with a mandatory coaches meeting set for Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m., according to the OHSAA.

Mason enters the game after a 1-1 draw at Milford's Charity J Lucas Soccer Stadium on Sept. 22, according to MaxPreps.

The Comets are defending GMC champions. Mason finished undefeated in conference play in 2025, beating Sycamore 3-0 on Oct. 15, 2025, for the program's first league title since 2021, as the MHS Chronicle reported.

Sami Cunningham, who coached the team during that 2025 title run, described the squad's resilience after an uneven start to the season. "We didn't win [our first three games], which is uncharacteristic … But I think they trusted that they were going to be good," Cunningham told the MHS Chronicle in October 2025.

Parker Evans, a starting center back who committed to play Division I soccer at the University of Iowa as a junior in 2025, was a key contributor to that championship squad.

The game will stream live on the Mason Broadcasting Company's YouTube channel, according to an MBC post on X. James Froelich and Jacob Kammerman will handle the broadcast.

The OHSAA Southwest District sectional and district brackets were posted Aug. 28, and the Cincinnati Enquirer's Oct. 1 power rankings noted the postseason is roughly three weeks away. Seeding votes open Oct. 4.
