International journalists got a firsthand look at Mason's corporate employers in June when the city's Economic Development office hosted the U.S. State Department's Foreign Press Center for a foreign direct investment tour organized by REDI Cincinnati.

The city announced the visit on social media Monday.

The tour made two stops: VEGA Americas, the German-owned advanced manufacturing company headquartered in Mason's city-owned R&D Park, and AtriCure, the medical device maker along the I-71 Innovation Corridor in the Oak Park District.

The City of Mason Economic Development office called it "a privilege to welcome the State Department and international journalists to Mason" as part of the regional initiative highlighting foreign investment in Greater Cincinnati.

VEGA Americas is a subsidiary of VEGA Grieshaber KG, based in Schiltach, Germany, making it a direct example of the foreign investment the tour highlighted.

The company opened a $50 million, 230,000-square-foot North American headquarters at 3877 Mason Research Parkway in September 2022 after relocating from Cincinnati. In October of 2025, VEGA celebrated a 120,000-square-foot production expansion that doubled its facility and initially added 31 full-time jobs.

"Our goal is to manufacture 85% of our total product portfolio within two manufacturing days by 2027," VEGA Americas President and CEO John Groom said at the October 2025 opening.

AtriCure, a publicly traded medical device company specializing in surgical treatments for atrial fibrillation, announced a 120,000-square-foot headquarters expansion in August 2024 that would add more than 300 jobs. The city's LinkedIn post says the company is currently expanding at its Mason headquarters.

Mason's R&D Park still has developable acreage being marketed to advanced manufacturing, med-tech, and technology companies, according to REDI Cincinnati property listings.
