Mason's free Friday night concert series lost another show to storms on July 17, but two more Music in Mason performances at Downtown Mason Plaza remain before the season wraps at the end of July.
The City of Mason Rec department announced the cancellation on the evening of Friday, citing inclement weather. The rained-out show had been set to feature DJ Spicy Noodle followed by Gee Your Band Smells Terrific, a 1970s cover band. It was the second weather cancellation of the 2026 season, after a June 26 show was also scrapped.
The nine-concert series kicked off on Friday, May 29, with School of Rock and Fortunate Sons, a Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band. The series runs every Friday evening through the end of July, with shows from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
What to expect
Each concert is free and features two live bands, food trucks, kids' activities including inflatables and local business displays. Adult beverages are sold by American Legion Post 194, with proceeds benefiting the Mason Parks and Recreation Foundation, American Legion Post 194, and VFW Post 9622. The city's Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area is active during shows, so attendees can carry drinks from participating downtown businesses.

Road closures
During each concert, West Main Street from U.S. Route 42 to North Forest Avenue and North West Street from U.S. Route 42 to Church Street close at 3 p.m.

Conductor John Morris Russell leads the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, preceded by the Northern Cincinnati Youth Orchestras at 5:30 p.m. and the Cincinnati Jazz Orchestra at 6:30 p.m. A drone show follows the main performance. Free, no tickets required. Irwin Simpson Road closes from Nottingham to Snider, 6–10 p.m. Overflow parking at Northern Cincinnati Community Church, 6170 Irwin Simpson Road, with complimentary shuttle.
