The Kings Knights bring a two-game home winning streak and a No. 20 state ranking into Friday's Eastern Cincinnati Conference matchup against the West Clermont Wolves at Kings Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Sept. 11.
WLWT selected the game as its Blitz 5 Game of the Week.
Sophomore running back Oliver Young has been the story of Kings' early season. Through three games, Young has carried 40 times for 329 yards and six touchdowns, averaging better than eight yards per attempt. Senior Jaden Hornbeck has matched him carry for carry with 40 rushes for 192 yards and two scores. Together the pair account for 521 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
Wide receiver Nathan Tucker rounds out the scoring with nine catches for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Those three are the only Knights to find the end zone this season, with quarterback Jack Sills distributing the ball.
On defense, junior lineman Connor Johnson, a Second Team All-ECC pick last season, and senior linebacker Jack Pearson have combined for 32 tackles, three sacks and seven tackles for loss.
Kings (2-1) routed Loveland 41-14 in Week 3 after a 35-0 shutout loss to Winton Woods in Week 2. That shutout was only the second for the program since 2013, a stretch of 154 games. Head coach Alex Garvin is 63-20 in seven seasons at Kings.
West Clermont (1-2) arrives after falling to No. 16 Lebanon 34-20 in Week 3. Senior quarterback Colton Abner threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns in that loss, and junior wide receiver Jasiah Feliciano hauled in seven catches for 143 yards and two scores. Senior running back Caleb Abshire managed only 37 yards on the ground against Lebanon after averaging 91.5 per game in the first two weeks.
The Wolves opened with a 42-12 win over Mt. Healthy but have dropped two straight. Over their last 13 games dating to last season, West Clermont is 3-11, allowing an average of 45 points per game in those 11 losses. First-year coach Jeremy Pflug brings a 66-31 career record across nine seasons.
A win Friday would keep Kings, who are 57-16 since 2020 with one outright ECC title, in the conference championship conversation.
