Four college basketball teams will play outdoors at Mason's Lindner Family Tennis Center on Oct. 7, in the venue's first major event since the Cincinnati Open drew record crowds in August.

The CareSource Invitational doubleheader pits the University of Dayton against Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati against Ohio State, according to the Dayton Daily News and BCSNN. The Dayton-Xavier exhibition tips off at 5:30 p.m. A start time for the Cincinnati-Ohio State game has not been announced.

The games mark a new chapter for the 40-acre campus, which underwent a $260 million expansion before this summer's Cincinnati Open. Cincinnati Tennis COO Jansen Dell has said the organization wants to host events year-round at the facility. Dell told Axios on Aug. 18 that despite the tournament's global draw, the venue's home community remains the priority.

The Cincinnati Open wrapped its 2026 run on Aug. 23 with record-setting attendance of 300,288 fans, WLWT reported. That topped the previous record of 285,571 set in 2025. Warren County Commissioner Dave Young estimated the tournament generated roughly $200 million in regional economic impact.

The $260 million facility upgrade doubled the campus from 20 to 40 acres and expanded the court count from 17 to 31, according to WCPO. Beemok Capital funded 51% of the project. Ohio and Warren County each committed $50 million, and Mason contributed $30 million.

Alexander Zverev, the top seed at the 2026 Cincinnati Open, joked about the outdoor setting on Aug. 18. "It's going to be interesting with the winds," Zverev told Axios. "The center court is very windy."

Ticket information and pricing for the Oct. 7 doubleheader have not been announced.
