Mason girls volleyball hosts Roger Bacon at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Mason High School in the Comets' first home match of the 2026-27 season.

The Comets enter at 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the Greater Miami Conference after a busy opening week on the road. Mason swept Princeton 25-17, 25-8, 25-12 in the Aug. 25 season opener, then dropped a four-set match to Ursuline Academy (29-27, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20) on Aug. 27.

The schedule didn't ease up. Mason split a pair of matches on Aug. 28, beating Gilmour Academy in straight sets (25-21, 25-23) and outlasting Olentangy Orange in three (25-22, 24-26, 25-21). Seton handed the Comets a lopsided loss on Aug. 29, winning 25-10, 25-12, according to GMC standings.

Roger Bacon poses a test. Spartans setter Emma McGraw earned Cincinnati Enquirer Ohio small-school volleyball player of the week honors after totaling 38 assists, 18 digs, seven kills and four aces as Roger Bacon opened the season 2-0 through Aug. 23.

Mason is chasing an 11th consecutive GMC championship. The Comets went unbeaten in conference play for 10 straight seasons through 2025, a streak of 43 wins without a league loss dating to Sept. 15, 2015, according to the MHS Chronicle. Over the past 13 seasons, Mason has claimed or shared the conference title 12 times. The Comets clinched the 2025 crown with a three-set sweep at Hamilton on Oct. 9, 2025.

Mason entered 2026 as a strong favorite to repeat, according to a preseason projection from Stateline Sports Network. The early road results suggest the Comets will face real competition along the way.

The match will be broadcast live on the Mason Broadcasting Company's YouTube channel. MBC is a student-run broadcast crew at Mason High School. Jacob Kammerman and Ben Kandell will call the action, Mason Sports Radio said.

Mason stays home Thursday, Sept. 3, to host Colerain in another GMC matchup, then travels to Middletown on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
