Mason residents will get a direct line to a regional TV news team on Sept. 2 when WCPO 9 News brings its "Let's Talk" community listening series to downtown Mason.
The station is sending four journalists to The Common Beer Company, 126 E. Main St., on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. Anchor Tanya O'Rourke, executive reporter Sean DeLancey, meteorologist Cameron Hardin and Warren County reporter Jackie Bauer will be on hand to hear residents' concerns and discuss local issues face-to-face.
The format is simple: show up, grab a seat and tell the newsroom what matters to you.
The event is part of WCPO's "Finding Solutions" initiative, which has held similar sessions in Milford and Alexandria, Kentucky. Those earlier stops produced tangible results: after the Milford event, WCPO aired stories on downtown parking frustrations and vacant buildings residents wanted revitalized. The Alexandria session led to coverage of traffic congestion, potholes and a disputed natural gas pipeline proposal.
WCPO said in its Aug. 10 announcement that the event aims to give residents "a direct line to share their stories and perspectives" and help the newsroom identify issues for future reporting.
Bauer covers Warren County as a beat, making her the station's primary reporter for the Mason area. Residents who raise concerns on Sept. 2 will be talking to the journalist most likely to follow up.
The event is separate from the City of Mason's own "A Seat at the Table" series, which has featured council members and city staff at various locations since June. "Let's Talk Mason" is organized entirely by WCPO, not city government.
No registration or fee has been announced. Residents can walk into The Common Beer Company, a specialty brewery and taproom in downtown Mason, during the two-hour window.
